Aryaloka Cancellation Policy

If a cancellation is made 11 days or more in advance (counting the start date of the event), the deposit will be refunded minus an administrative fee of $25, or the whole fee can be transferred to a future event. If the cancellation is made within 10 days or less of the event, the whole fee can be transferred to a future event, or half the fee will be refunded. If there is a no-show for an event without cancellation prior to the start time of the event, no refund will be made. Exceptions to this policy may be made at the discretion of the Center Manager who can be contacted at info@aryaloka.org.

Diversity and Inclusion: The Four Worlds of the String Quartet

An Afternoon with the Aryaloka String Quartet — March 10, 3pm

Four players, four composers, four quartets, four worlds. All connected by interwoven threads, invigorating explorations of sound, form, rhythm, texture, mood, drama… Beethoven, Caroline Shaw, Haydn, Astor Piazzola. Each one pushing the boundaries in their musings. The stormy, wild and unpredictable Beethoven; Shaw (inspired by Haydn in this case), as if in a hymn or a dream; Haydn, despite being close in time to the Beethoven, utterly different, charming, morose, playful; and Piazzola, giving us the limits of the tango dance form, a narrative of street encounters and cabaret.

Continuing its mission to present unlikely juxtapositions of quartet works, the Aryaloka Quartet invites you to hear this marvelous playing out (pun intended) of diversity and inclusion. Four worlds. But, in the end, one world.

Doors at 2:30pm, concert at 3pm. Light refreshments will be served. All proceeds to benefit <a href="https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/" style="text-decoration:none">Doctors Without Borders</a> and <a href="https://wck.org/" style="text-decoration:none">World Central Kitchen</a>. *Please bring a tip for the musicians.

The Aryaloka String Quartet of Boston was formed in the mid-2000's by long-time colleagues and friends Beth Welty and Mark Latham, violins; Noralee Walker, viola, and Sandi-Jo Malmon, cello. They are dedicated to bringing the communal experience of chamber music to the wider world, in both smaller, unexpected venues as well as traditional concert halls. Their name comes from the Sanskrit word that means "in the abode of the noble ones." They are honored to dwell in this virtual space - transmitting the works of great composers to their audiences.
