Aryaloka launches Energy Solar Appeal — And We’re more than half-way there!
The winter has been cold and snowy. And no doubt, high temperatures will return this summer. But thanks to Aryaloka’s Energy Initiative (heat pumps and solar panels) in 2025, the domes have been warm this winter and will be comfortably cool again this summer.
Phase I of the project was the installation of heat pumps which made things much more comfortable inside the domes during the summer heat. The cost of Phase I was $38,000, paid for by one generous donor. Phase II was the installation of solar panels on the roof of Akashaloka, expected to generate more than 100 percent of electricity used by the domes.
The cost of Phase II is $66,500. Aryaloka has launched a Solar Energy Appeal to raise money to pay off the project financing. Several generous donors already have pledged or given more than $36,000. All donations go directly toward reducing the loan principal. Aryaloka also is seeking $16,000 in federal tax credits. Thank you to those who have already given.
With more than half of the needed funds raised, Aryaloka is taking the appeal to the wider sangha to raise up to an additional $10,000. The sangha-wide appeal kicks off March 10 and will continue throughout the year.
You can give a one-time gift or pay your pledge over time at the link below or mail your check to Aryaloka at 14 Heartwood Circle, Newmarket, NH 03857. If you already pledge your support to Aryaloka, thank you. Anything you give to this special appeal is deeply appreciated and is an investment in a “greener” Aryaloka. We are already more than half-way there!
