Latest issue of Vajra Bell now available
The Vajra Bell is back! You can see the Spring/Summer 2025 issue here .
The relaunch of the Vajra Bell was made possible with a generous grant from FutureDharma along with contributions from New York-New Jersey Sangha and Aryaloka, Nagaloka, Portsmouth, Seattle and San Francisco Buddhist centers. Their support is deeply appreciated and makes this and future issues possible.
This issue’s theme – “Sangha as a Force for Good in the World” – was inspired by a talk of the same title given by Suddhayu, Aryaloka’s center manager. Suddhayu offers ways in which Buddhists can respond to uncertain times in their practices and communities.
Also featured is an article by Suryapala of New York who lived through political turmoil in the US, South Africa, Hong Kong and the UK. In his article, “The Dharma and the Worldly Winds of Politics,” Suryapala takes a long view and shares his advice on how to navigate these political times.
This year also is the centenary of Sangharakshita. Viriyagita and four other US order members share their experiences of Sangharakshita in his visits to the US and Canada as Triratna established a presence in North America.
A major portion of the issue is dedicated to “Sangha Connections.” Aryaloka Buddhist Center, celebrating its 40th year, is profiled. The other eight US and Canada centers respond to the theme: “In what ways is your sangha a force for good in the world?”
The art, poetry and music of Triratna sangha members, including Sangharakshita, also are featured.
