Recordings:

  • Suddhayu on ‘The Sangha is a Garden’ launching the 40th anniversary year of celebrations and reflections.
  • Surakshita, Thiradhamma and Vidhuma on their historical involvement with Aryaloka. Our first 40th anniversary historical talk of 2025 includes a panel of Surakshita, Thiradhamma and Vidhuma, with a special appearance by Buddhapalita. This includes stories of the founding and early years of Aryaloka. *Sound quality is initially poor but improves.
  • Dayalocana on her historical involvement with Aryaloka. Dayalocana has been a part of the Aryaloka sangha since the late 80's. She was one of Aryaloka's first volunteers, had three terms as Chair of Aryaloka, ordained 10 women, and still volunteers at Aryaloka today! Thanks to Dayalocana's leadership and care, Aryaloka is still thriving today. In this presentation she recounts her experience in Aryaloka's first 10 years.
  • Karunadevi on her early years with Triratna and historic ordination at Aryaloka. Karunadevi visits from California to speak about the early days of her involvement in Buddhist circles and Triratna in the 1980s, as well as her historic ordination in 1993 at Aryaloka. Karunadevi was the first Order Member and the first woman to be ordained in North America. Karunadevi and Saramati were ordained by Bhante Sangharakshita.
  • The first North American ordinations: Karunadevi and Saramati ordained by Bhante Sangharakshita in 1993 at Aryaloka.
  • Video of the dedication of five new woodland shrines on Buddha Day.
  • Amala on the Relational Universe of Aryaloka
  • Vidyavati on 'Aryaloka: Outer, Inner, Secret'  Using the traditional Vajrayana schema of 'Outer, Inner, Secret,' Vidyavati weaves an excellent tale of the origins and vision of Aryaloka. This talk includes many strong teachings from Bhante Sangharakshita on the nature of Dharma practice and the importance of a supportive and challenging context for Dharma practice.
  • Women's Community Reunion: Members of the former residential Buddhist women's community that was located near Aryaloka reunite and reflect on their experience of community living. What were the challenges and benefits of community living? Are there those today that would consider an intentional community as a living arrangement?
