Explore Buddhism: An Introduction to Buddhism and Meditation, Feb 3, 10-4
What does Buddhist teaching have to offer us in 2024? After 2500 years, the Buddha’s vision of human spiritual life is still relevant, radical, practical and fresh. This day workshop will give participants an introduction to the life and core teachings of the Buddha, and all they need to begin their own practice! Basic meditation instruction will be given as well as an introduction to Buddhist ethics and wisdom teachings.
Whether you're looking for peace and stillness, to find skills for kinder, simpler living, or to directly explore the nature of consciousness, this class is a great way to begin! Suitable for complete beginners, or those seeking to explore Buddhism and meditation more deeply.
The day includes a vegetarian lunch. Tea and water are available. You might consider bringing a water bottle, notebook and pen, and either heavy socks or indoor slippers/shoes. Click here for more info about attending events at Aryaloka.
Dh Suddhayu has been a practicing Buddhist since 1992. He is an ordained member of the Triratna Buddhist Order, and has been teaching workshops and leading retreats since 1998. He currently works full time for Dharma initiatives as manager of Aryaloka Buddhist Retreat Center and Chair of Portsmouth Buddhist Center.
