Dharma Day — July 28, 10-3
Come together this summer for a day of community, engaging Dharma practice and fun! Dharma Day is the annual celebration of the Buddha’s teaching. The day is a remembrance of the Buddha’s decision to teach, and a rejoicing in the many forms that the teaching has taken.
This year our Dharma Day team has put together a wonderful program exploring the crucial incident in the Buddha’s Enlightenment story in which the Buddha reflected on how difficult it would be to communicate his vision to others. The emergence of his compassion is represented in a visitation and a request from the divine realm, followed by a vision of humanity as a pool of lotuses in differing stages of blossom. This vision of humanity moved the new Buddha to make the effort to teach others.
The day will include a program of meditation, short talks, discussion and children’s activities. *The children’s activities will run concurrently beginning at 10:30 and run through until lunch. The scavenger hunt will be an adult/child friendly activity in which parents will be able to participate with their child/ren. Adults without children at the Dharma Day program will also be able to enjoy this activity.
