Grounded In The Present Moment: Using Mindful Eating to Support Your Practice

Grounded In The Present Moment: Using Mindful Eating to Support Your Practice | April 28, 6pm to April 30, 2pm

You are looking for opportunities to support your overall health and reduce or prevent burnout. You know that mindfulness renews mental health by changing neural pathways, but like most of us, you can see that meditating for a few minutes a day isn’t always enough. You are looking for support, ideas, and instruction to take mindfulness off the cushion and into your daily life.

This retreat is a delicious way to reconnect with the present moment using food and eating as your touchstone. You will practice off-the-cushion mindful eating techniques to nourish and reconnect with your body. Dust off and explore new ways to savor the present moment when eating and moving.

Let time slow down during this spacious mindfulness retreat, filled with simple, delicious vegetarian meals and gentle and enjoyable movement in the beautiful and relaxed atmosphere of Aryaloka Buddhist Retreat Center. The retreat will allow you to practice being mindful with food and movement to support self-care, self-kindness, health, joy, and peace.

Dh Amala and Megrette Fletcher, M.Ed, RD, CDE, were co-founders of The Center for Mindful Eating.

Amala has been studying and practicing meditation and Buddhism since the early 1970s. She has been practicing with the Triratna Community since 1991 and was ordained in 2000. Amala is currently the Chair of the Spiritual Vitality Council and leads a variety of retreats and classes.

Megrette Fletcher, M.Ed., RD, CDCDS, is a registered dietitian and diabetes care and educator specialist. She is the author of five weight-neutral mindful eating books. She lives and works in New Hampshire and has been meditating regularly since 1999.

A Culture of Generosity and Support
In the tradition of passing on the Dharma freely, our Dharma retreat and workshop facilitators offer their work without charge and are not paid. We recognize the value in what they do and want to thank them for their time, energy and wisdom. A financial gift can help support our facilitators to afford them the opportunity to lead. Please consider making a donation towards their support.
There is often a cash collection and a thank you card that is passed on the retreat, though one can also make a donation directly to facilitators with a check, and some use money transfer services such as PayPal or Venmo.
Thank you for considering this.
