Tuesday Friends' Evenings

A weekly gathering to meditate, learn, share and befriend!

We are now hybrid on Tuesday evenings, meaning you can come in person or join on Zoom! This is a great opportunity to stay connected and find some inspiration. Led meditation, Dharma talks, and engaged discussion. All are welcome, even if you have zero experience! By donation, $5-$15 suggested (you can donate online here).

Our Current Series:
Living Skilfully — The Buddhist Approach to a Kinder World

One of the most refreshing aspects of Buddhist life is the hands-on and positive approach to living ethically. There are simple practices for reducing harm as well as   cultivating life-changing qualities such as generosity and mindfulness. The Buddhist approach to ethics helps us to honestly come to terms with the more destructive aspects of our nature, as well as providing us a vision of who we can become.

Ethical practice, or living skilfully, is understood as foundational to cultivating an effective meditation practice, and the development of deeper, transformative insights. Our skilfulness is also the foundation for more empathetic and caring communities, and represents a personal momentum that can change the world.

For our Tuesday evening sessions this spring, we’ll be exploring the many dimensions of ethical practice: how to work with that which holds us back, how to augment that which is creative and liberative, and how to create a network of support in an unpredictable world.

Please note: if you would like to do some reading in-between sessions, we will be following the section on Morality from Sangharakshita’s ‘A Guide to the Buddhist Path,’ available in the Aryaloka bookshop or from your favorite bookseller.
