Buddha Day!

Buddha Day

“How long he sat there we do not know,” wrote Sangharakshita. “It may have been days; it may have been weeks; it may even have been months. As he sat there he controlled and concentrated his mind, purified his mind, suppressed the mental hindrances, the defilements. And on Wesak night, the night of the full moon in May, just as the morning star was rising — just as he fixed his mind on that star glittering near the horizon — full illumination, full Enlightenment, arose.”

Buddha Day is the annual celebration of the Enlightenment of the Buddha, taking place on or near the full moon in May. This year, Triratna NYC, Triratna Boston and Aryaloka are cohosting an online celebration on Tuesday evening May 25th, 6:30-8:30pm ET. We’ll meditate, hear stories and engage in celebratory ritual as we turn our hearts and minds to the deep and liberative significance of this day! All are welcome!
