Reclaiming Our Ancestral Connection
Workshop, Author Event & Fundraiser with Debra Anne LeClair
April 6th, 2025, 1:30-3:30pm
In many cultures, particularly in the East, a deep connection to one’s lineage offers an enduring wellspring of guidance, belonging, and strength. Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us: “If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. You are the continuation of each of these people.”
Join us for a powerful exploration of ancestral connection through sacred practice. By turning toward your own lineage, you’ll discover the wisdom and support that your ancestors hold for you—alive and present in your very being.
In this afternoon workshop, we will:
- Learn about the different types of ancestors and their significance
- Hear the backstory of ancestral connections in Debra's novel, The Common Hours
- Participate in a guided practice to meet one of your ancestors, asking for their insight into a life challenge
- Support Aryaloka with your donation and purchase of a book
Whether you are new to this path or seeking to deepen your connection, all are welcome. Please bring a journal for reflection.
About the Author
Debra is a long-time, albeit far-flung member of our sangha at Aryaloka. The seed of her debut novel, The Common Hours stems from a visceral connection to the Tudor era and the discovery that her own Celtic ancestors tangled with the crown. Debra is a psychologist and coach, who is impassioned by the connection between psychology and spirituality, and what that brings to the journey to be human.
